The Malvern Youth Advocacy and Action Program (MYAAP) empowers young people (16-29) to become proactive leaders and advocates in their communities. Our mission is to equip youth with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to effect positive change on issues that matter to them.

The Malvern Youth Advocacy and Action Program (MYAAP) empowers young people (16-29) to become proactive leaders and advocates in their communities. Our mission is to equip youth with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to effect positive change on issues that matter to them.

  • Empowerment: Provide youth with the tools and resources to express their opinions and advocate for change.
  • Education: Offer workshops and training on advocacy strategies, public speaking, and policy engagement.
  • Engagement: Foster connections between youth and local leaders, organizations, and policymakers.
  • Action: Support youth-led initiatives and projects that address systemic issues impacting their communities.
  • Workshops and Training: Interactive sessions covering topics such as effective communication, policy analysis, and advocacy strategies.
  • Policy brief or engagement: Opportunities for participants to develop and implement their own advocacy strategy through the use of a policy engagement tool such as a policy brief.
  • Field Trips: Regular meet-ups to connect with peers and professionals in the field.
  • Youth aged 16-29 who are passionate about social justice and community issues.
  • Youth looking to develop leadership skills and make a difference.
  • Youth with lived experience in the areas of housing, and poverty reduction.

Applications will open on October 11th and close on November 15th. Interviews will take place through November, with the cohort selected by early December.

  • Time Commitment: Maximum of four hours per week, for up to 17 weeks.
  • Cost: This program is free and offers youth an opportunity, outside of the school system, to actively engage and learn about policy and advocacy.
  • Honorarium: Participants who successfully complete the program and graduate will receive an honorarium for their contributions within the cohort.
