Volunteer Spotlight: ANC Empringham Breakfast Club

Every week during the school year two amazing individuals wake up at the crack of dawn and head over to the Empringham HOPE Centre to get breakfast started. They are Joan Hunte and Josie Franco — the Volunteer Coordinators of the Empringham Breakfast Club Program. The Empringham Breakfast Club is supported by Malvern Action for Neighbourhood Change (ANC), and is funded by the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS), with support from the Malvern Family Resource Centre (MFRC) and Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC).

Josie and Joan Volunteers

Since 2010, the Empringham Breakfast Club has helped provide dozens of children daily with a free, delicious and nutritious breakfast to start the school day. Volunteer Coordinators shop for food, create menus, cook and deliver breakfast, and build positive relationships with the children who live in the neighbourhood. Without the support of dedicated and passionate volunteers like Joan and Josie, the Breakfast Club wouldn’t be possible.

If you are interested in providing healthy breakfast to school age children, please join our Volunteering team!

On behalf on Malvern ANC and MFRC, we’d like to extend a big heartfelt thank-you for the hard work and dedication of all of the Empringham Breakfast Club volunteers and Coordinators — You help to make Malvern the amazing community that it is!
