Computer Class


Positions are available under Seniors Centre and Women’s Place.


Assist individuals on the correct and effective use of basic computer applications/ programs.

Lessons Include

  1. Introduction to computer components and computer control
  2. Keyboarding
  3. Microsoft Word
  4. Internet, search engines and email
  5. Social networking


  1. Assist with the development, coordination and structure of computer class sessions for women or seniors
  2. Promote independent learning and support participants through verbal cuing and assistance
  3. Assist with the development of program materials
  4. Must fill out completed hours in the volunteer attendance (sign-in) every week
  5. Must abide to Malvern Family Resource Centre’s policies and procedures regarding confidentiality, privacy, reporting and record keeping
  6. Assist with collecting service statistics
  7. Must encourage inclusiveness within group members in a positive atmosphere


  1. Interest in, and/or experience teaching computer skills at a beginner level.  Must have a good working knowledge of computers and appropriate software needed for computer classes
  2. Ability to communicate with sensitivity to clients from diverse language and cultural backgrounds
  3. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  4. Good organizational skills
  5. Commitment to anti-racism and non-discrimination practices
  6. Complete MFRC volunteer orientation and all necessary forms, including the Confidentiality Agreement
  7. Criminal reference check or police clearance letter is required
