Welcome to the Youth Department
History
The Youth Department was established over 15 years ago. It originally started as a pilot project through the support of the Centre’s staff and local schools. The first program provided 5 mentors to youth at Alexander Stirling Public School. That same year a program was created for female youth in Malvern that provided a forum for them to discuss relevant issues.
Since then, our youth department has expanded, from serving the original 5 youth at Alexander Stirling, to provide support through programs and services to over 23,000 participants.
Over the years our programs have caught the attention of people in our community, city, province and right across Canada. In fact, some of our programs have been profiled in places as far away as Japan. We believe that youth in Malvern deserve the best practices available in social services. We continuously strive to help build strong programs and provide opportunities for our staff to strengthen their skills to carry out our agencies mandate.
Our agency believes in strong community partnerships that benefit youth in our programs. We have and continue to work with partners such as our local politicians, police department, schools, City of Toronto and our main funder, the United Way of Toronto.
We invite you to come by and visit our centre located at 1321 Neilson Road for more information, or call 416-281-1376.
